Professional ExperienceHarold Linton has authored eight books on color, design, drawing and architecture. His latest text, Color in Architecture: Design Methods for Buildings, Interiors, and Urban Spaces was published by McGraw-Hill, New York in 1999. His recent book, Portfolio Design, published by W.W. Norton and Company, concerns professional presentation in the arts and design and has been adopted by over 50 art, design and architecture schools around the country. It has also appeared on the best seller list at the Prairie Avenue Bookstore in Chicago and other leading book sellers across the country. It is to be released in February 2000 in it's first foreign translation (Spanish) and the second edition is due for publication in August 2000. Among relatively recent titles are also Color Forecasting: A Survey of International Color Marketing, John Wiley and Sons, N.Y., N.Y.,1994; and Color Consulting: A Survey of International Color Design, (ITP) Van Nostrand Reinhold Company, Inc., New York, 1991. Harold Linton, Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Art, (beginning his duties at Bradley University, July 15, 1998) has been associated with Lawrence Technological University, Southfield, Michigan, since 1974, serving as Assistant Dean of the College of Architecture and Design for the past seven years and as Chairperson of the Department of Art and Design. As Assistant Dean of the College of Architecture and Design at Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, Michigan, he founded the first degree program (B.F.A.) in Architectural Illustration in North America and successfully sought and received accreditation for this ground-breaking academic development. He currently serves on the advisory council for this program. Linton is also the co-founder and Professor of the first Master of Arts degree program in Color and Design in Europe at the University of Art and Design - UIAH, Helsinki, Finland, 1996-1997, where he has served as a member of the advisory council. Linton has been a visiting lecturer and professor of design at the University of Art and Design - UIAH, Helsinki, Finland; visiting lecturer at the University of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden; and Winterthur Polytechnic, Winterthur, Switzerland, The Harvard Graduate School of Design, Cambridge, Massachusetts; Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, Illinois; College of Design, Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa; The University of Michigan, School of Art and Architecture, Ann Arbor, Michigan, Howard University, Washington, D.C.; Center for Creative Studies - College of Design, Detroit, Michigan; and a frequent speaker at numerous professional organizations such as the Color Marketing Group, Inter-Society Color Council, First International Congress on Color Education and the American Institute of Architects Students among others. |
